Master Parker (www.sawingtsun.com) heads the IWTA American section and was adopted by Grandmaster Leung Ting in 1990. He is a 6th level Practition and visits Dallas annually, please visit the national website for more information on the International WingTsun Association (www.wtdefense.com).
The main objective of WT is to be a realistic system of self-defense. WT does not focus on fighting “techniques”, instead relying on fighting and energy principles (concepts) to be followed at all times.
What can I expect in the training?
· Forms training
· Strength training
· Reflex training
· Chi-Sau
· Lat-Sau
· Footwork and kicking drills
· Equipment training
Chi Sau, or “sticking hands” trains students to respond reflexively to the speed, force, and direction of an attack based on tactile information - which the human brain processes much faster than visual information. We train in a non-competitive and respectful atmosphere in order maximize everyone's learning potential.
Dallas WingTsun™ / Iron Palm has a wide variety of equipment (heavy bags, focus mitts, kick shields, wall-bags, double-end bags, etc.) to help the students develop striking force, coordination and to improve general fitness as passed on by our kung fu ancestors.
